Between what you hear on TV and read in the news, eating right can seem like a real challenge. But it doesn't have to be. Dietetics practitioners work in health care systems, home health care, foodservice, business, research and educational organizations, as well as in private practice. As vital members of medical teams in hospitals, long-term care facilities and health maintenance organizations, they provide medical nutrition therapy — using specific nutrition services to treat chronic conditions, illnesses or injuries. Community-based dietetics practitioners provide health promotion, disease prevention and wellness services.

  • The purpose of the Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board (ADLB) is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. This is accomplished by providing for the licensing and regulation of persons engaged in the practice of dietetics as established by the Dietetics Practice Act in 1989.

The Arkansas Dietetics Licensing Board members appointed by the Governor meet regularly to process new and renewal licensure applications. The state of Arkansas currently licenses over 647 dietitians in the state. The licensure year is December 1 through November 30 per the Dietetics Practice Act 392 of 1989.  The Licensure Board is a separate entity from the Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Please visit their website to register a complaint, view the Dietetics Practice Law, or renew your license.
