Become a Student Liaison

As a volunteer, you'll participate in recruitment and retention of student members and provide feedback on student initiatives.
 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact to communicate Academy student member initiatives, messages and other information to Student Dietetics Associations/Clubs.
  • Provide feedback on student initiatives through quarterly reports and postings on the Student Community. The Student Community is an online networking and information resource for Academy student members only.
  • Participate in recruitment, retention of student members and in special projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a Student category member in good standing with the Academy
  • Must be a member of the Student Community

Time Commitment

  • One year term of June 1 to May 31 (the Academy’s membership year). Your term begins when you submit your form to be the SL at your school and is available on a first come first serve basis with up to two SLs per program. You may continue to hold the position as long as you remain a student in that program and a member of the Academy, but must submit your SL application each year to do so.
  • Position may be written into the student dietetic association/club constitution. If the SL position is an elected or appointed position in your school’s student dietetic association/club, please check your organization’s bylaws on how to apply for the position.
  • Estimate between 6 and 8 hours per month

  • Student Liaisons are encouraged to use this experience to apply for a position on the Student Advisory Committee (if a Student member during the year of possible appointment), or other Academy national committees if transitioning to the Active membership category.
