A Message From Your President

December 2008

Your President and Board of Directors have had a busy Fall.  We had a BOD Meeting the morning of October 3, at St. Vincent’s in Little Rock and a half-day Leadership Workshop in the afternoon with 4 CE’s.  Danielle DeGarie, Terrah Alexander,  and Lea Hyland did an outstanding job on the Leadership Workshop.  Several members and students were in attendance, and it was a great learning experience for all of us.  

ArDA had a good representation at FNCE in Chicago October 25-29.  There were at least 30 of our members registered.  Check out the pictures on the website.  Kim Dowell, Danielle DeGarie, and I met with Juliana Smith, Jennifer Weber, and Stephanie Patrick from the Washington, DC office to discuss our state issues and upcoming Public Policy/legislative activities.  

We recently learned that the Public Policy Workshop scheduled for February 8-10 in Washington, DC will be changed to a webinar format as a response to the current economic conditions.  ADA wants to be prudent with the budget and traveling expenses so will be doing more meetings in the coming months by teleseminar or webinar.  The good news is that all ArDA dietitians will have the opportunity to participate in PPW.   Danielle DeGarie and Lea Hyland are working on setting up some PPW webinar sites.  We will have more information going out a little later.
