Call for Research Posters:

The Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ArAND) is sponsoring the Annual Meeting and Exposition on April 19-20, 2018 at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Little Rock, AR.  Dietetics professionals and students have the opportunity to network and present their research projects on Thursday, April 19 at the Networking and Poster Session.  This session is designed to highlight best practices and tangible research results. Additionally, this forum provides an opportunity to visually present and discuss research. The poster session is open to all annual meeting attendees.  There will be a dedicated poster session meet and greet time during the annual meeting. All abstracts are peer-reviewed by a panel of dietetics professionals with specific experience in appropriate practice areas.

Presentation Description:

Poster Presentations offer content using charts, graphs, illustrations, and/or photographs. Posters allow for informal, one-on-one or small group discussions with the presenter about the issue, problem, project or research addressed in the poster. The poster area will consist of a 3’ high by 4’ display board provided by ArAND.  If selected, presenters must ensure their posters will fit these dimensions and bring their own supplies for securing their poster to the foam board.

Basis for Review:

Criteria for selection are consistent with that of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Research Abstracts are reviewed on the basis of the following:

  • Title (clear, concise, descriptive)
  • Research study (focus, clarity, justification of the research question),
  • Methods (adequate description of design and appropriateness to the research question),
  • Analysis (analytic procedures appropriate to the data collected and the research question ),
  • Main Findings / Results (scientifically sound, valid presentation and interpretation of the results consistent with research question),
  • Main conclusions (appropriate representation of the results consistent with research question) and
  • Overall scientific quality merit of the research and contribution to the science.

Rules for Submission:

All persons submitting abstracts must provide their name, e-mail, and phone number in case of questions.  Students submitting abstracts must also provide the name, e-mail and phone number of their faculty advisor. Abstracts must be original material. Research results and/or conclusions must be completed at the time of submission. Proofread your abstract carefully. Do NOT rely on computer spell check software only. Any abstracts that have significant typographical or grammatical errors, particularly any in the title, will be disqualified. Submissions must be made by 11:59 p.m. (Central) on Friday, April 6, 2018.

Display Requirements:

  • ArAND will provide a display board for presenters to mount their poster.  The poster area will consist of a 3 foot high by 4 foot wide display board. Your poster must fit within this space allowance.
  • Unless necessary, chairs will not be provided and these must be requested in writing.
  • Presenters are responsible for their own supplies including thumbtacks or other poster mounting materials.
  • Be prepared to give short informal presentations, give a brief overview, answer questions, etc.
  • Posters should follow the outline of the abstract by presenting the objective (purpose); design, methods, and instruments; results; and conclusions.
  • Please arrive at least 60 minutes before the poster session begins.
  • Report to the Poster Session Check-In area. Volunteers will direct you to your display board.
  • Presenters are responsible for assembling and dismantling their posters in a timely fashion.
  • Presenters are expected to be at your poster display for the entire 60 minutes of presentation.
  • Please dismantle and remove all of your materials after the close of the session. Any posters remaining after the close of the presentation day will be removed and discarded.

POSTER SUBMISSION IS CLOSED.
